Project Case Study

The Ohio State University
Northwest Parking Garage Renovation

The Ohio State University wanted to renovate their Northwest Parking Garage but parking is at a premium in the area adjacent to The Ohio Stadium. The University, working with The Design Group, Inc and Walker Parking Consultants, contracted with Nathan Contracting to complete the nine-month, million-dollar restoration project on a condensed three-month schedule with a drop-dead completion date of the Buckeyes’ home opener.

The total restoration project consisted of the repair of precast double tees including 7,300 square feet of partial- and full-depth repairs to the tees. Column and beam repairs were also included and new shear transfer devices were installed before resealing 22,800 lineal feet of tee-to-tee joints and applying a Traffic Bearing Membrane to 180,000 square feet of deck surface. The project also included a new elevator, new lighting, new security fencing, new signage and sealing the exterior precast. Nathan Contracting, working ten-hour days seven days per week, brought the project in on time prior to the Buckeyes opening 42-20 win over UCLA.
