Project Case Study

Donora Public Parking Garage and Community Center Rehabilitation Project
Donora, Pennsylvania

When planning for the much needed renovations to the Donora Public Parking Garage Nathan Contracting worked very closely with Redevelopment Authority of Washington County, McDonald Associates Engineering and the Donora Borough Maintenance Department to develop a repair scheme that would address the main interests of the community. The garage is not only used for parking but for town get-togethers, community picnics and holiday celebrations.

The scope of the restoration work required a complete replacement of the sections of the existing concrete deck, cleaning and repainting the steel support beams, application of elastomeric coating to the exterior walls followed by a non-skid traffic bearing deck coating system designed to keep out the elements and de-icing salts. Also integrated was the replacement and upgrading of the electrical service enclosures and panel boards, removal and replacement of the concrete sidewalks, replacing the metal hand railing, and the installations of solariums. The end result was a garage that was functional, low maintenance and a monument to the community.
